Should it be decided that his

certificate will be accepted Dr. Hunter proposes to charge

a fee of $100 for a six months' course of instruction and

the Principal Civil Medical Officer does not think the

candidates would object to this as it would be less than

they would have to pay in England for a similar course. As

the Government Bacteriologist's remuneration is fixed on

the assumption that his whole time is at the disposal of

the Government, I am somewhat doubtful whether this charge

should be made or if made whether at any rate half the fee

should not be paid into the Treasury. I shall be obliged

for Your Lordship's ruling on this point.
